The biohacking expert spoke about the importance of magnesium for the body
Biohacking expert Maria Molostvova spoke on Tuesday, September 23, about how important magnesium is for the human body.
"Magnesium is present in every cell of our body. It participates in more than 600 enzymatic reactions necessary to maintain the normal functioning of the body. About 60% of magnesium is found in bones, and the rest is distributed in muscles and body fluids," the expert said in an interview with RuNews24.ru .
According to the expert, magnesium promotes the activation of vitamin D and participates in the regulation of calcium and phosphate homeostasis, which is critical for bone growth and strength. This trace element also affects the levels of glucose, insulin, and the neurotransmitter dopamine, as well as magnesium. Its deficiency can manifest itself in the form of a strong desire to eat sweets, especially chocolate.
Molostvova noted that magnesium plays an important role in the pathogenesis of migraines. In addition, its deficiency can lead to various neurological problems, including cortical depression and platelet hyperaggregation, which increases the risk of headaches.
Twitching, tremors and cramps are signs of magnesium deficiency, the expert added. Magnesium deficiency is also associated with insulin resistance and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.
Magnesium supplements have become a popular way to combat a deficiency of this mineral, but it's important to consult your doctor before taking supplements, Molostvova warned.
On the same day, Olesya Makhova, head of the Competence Center for the Development of Plant Products of Roskachestvo, said that nutrition correction, for example, an increase in the proportion of plant products, can provide significant assistance in the prevention of migraines.
The specialist explained that whole-grain cereals and leafy vegetables rich in vitamin B2 significantly reduce the frequency of seizures. She added that magnesium, which is often deficient in patients, plays a key role in the fight against migraines.
In turn, Natalia Eyring, a practical psychologist and founder of the Time to Live Psychology center, told RIAMO that it is useful to add trace elements, such as magnesium, to the diet in the fall.
Earlier, on September 19, Antonina Starodubova, the chief freelance nutritionist of the capital, told the Moscow city news agency that rice contains vitamins B1, B2, niacin (vitamin PP), as well as minerals: potassium, phosphorus, selenium, magnesium.
Before that, nutritionist Veronika Gusakova said that zinc, vitamin D and magnesium help maintain a positive emotional background and cope with stress.
