The final of the Rosneft Sports Games has started in Sochi

The final competitions of the XX Summer Sports Games of Rosneft will be held in Sochi on September 23-26. Oil athletes from the 20 strongest teams of the company's enterprises will take part in the competitions. This was reported by the Rosneft press service.

At the opening ceremony, the athletes were greeted by three-time world champion in hockey, Olympic medalist, three-time USSR champion and Stanley Cup winner Sergey Fedorov. He noted Rosneft's significant contribution to the development of mass sports and wished the participants a fair fight, good luck and vivid impressions.

Athletes will compete in 18 disciplines, including mini-football, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, chess, and powerlifting. Swimming is included in the competition program for the first time. The competitions will be held at six Olympic venues in Sochi.

The development of sports is one of the main directions of Rosneft's social policy, the company stressed. The Summer and Winter Sports Games are massive corporate competitions in which thousands of employees participate. The qualifying stages of the company's summer Games were held in nine cities. Almost 3,000 athletes from 70 teams of Rosneft subsidiaries took part in them.

The first mass competitions of Rosneft were held in 2005. The company's athletes also take part in all major mass sports competitions in Russia, the company emphasized.
