Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Tuesday, September 23, that every year in Brussels they try to ban him from communicating with delegations from Russia and Belarus at the session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN).

"Every year we (Hungary. They say not to meet with Russians, not to meet with Belarusians, not to meet with one, not to meet with the other, but I say that no one from Brussels can tell me who to meet with and who not, because I am the foreign minister of the sovereign Hungarian government, sovereign Hungary." He said in a video posted on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

According to Szijjarto, neither the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, nor any other Brussels politician "can tell him what to do." He added that he always represents Hungary's national interests and uses the UN platform to maintain diplomatic relations.

In addition, the minister stressed that "he does not negotiate in accordance with Brussels narratives and does not express Brussels theses, but represents national interests."

Szijjarto said on September 10 that the European Union does not stop exerting pressure on Hungary, which indicates the presence of anti-democratic processes in the union. He added that Brussels is doing everything possible to "throw out strong leaders and install its puppet government."
