The damage in the Mervaezova case of embezzlement of money from the Ministry of Defense may reach about 5 billion rubles.

The damage in the criminal case against Yulia Mervaezova, former First Deputy Minister of Construction of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Vadim Vygulyary, former head of the main military Construction Department No. 8, as well as three other defendants who are accused of embezzling funds from the Russian Defense Ministry during the construction of facilities under a state contract, may amount to about 5 billion. This was reported on September 23 by the TASS news agency, citing law enforcement agencies.

"Mervaezova, Vygulny, as well as three defendants in the case of embezzlement of funds from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation during the execution of about five government contracts, are being held in the framework of a single criminal case. The damage from their criminal actions can reach about 5 billion rubles," the source said.
