The crew of the T-80BVM tank of the 9th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade as part of the Center group of forces destroyed the control point of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with fire from a closed firing position The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Red Army area of the special military operation (SVO). This was announced on September 23 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The ministry clarified that the exact coordinates of the enemy were discovered by scouts on the UAV. Having received information about the location of the target, the tankers aimed the combat vehicle and fired a series of shots with 125-millimeter high-explosive shells from a distance of about 10 km.

The fire was adjusted in real time using a reconnaissance drone of the compound. The unit commander gave corrections to the tankers, who introduced corrections for the next shot. After successfully destroying the enemy target, the soldiers disguised the combat vehicle and took refuge in a specially equipped dugout.

"The tank is new, it still smells like paint, and it performs well in combat, both head—on [from open] and from closed positions," says Vadim Kabanov, the tank commander.

In addition, gunner Sergei Pustovit said that the combat vehicle was working "like clockwork." According to him, gun aiming is easy, but it will be difficult to hit the target without an experienced gunner.
