Ilsur Metshin was elected mayor of Kazan for the fifth time

At the first meeting of the Kazan City Duma of the new convocation on September 22, Ilsur Metshin, who has held this position for 20 years, was re-elected mayor. This is his fifth term in office.

The mayoral elections were held according to a new procedure, in which, in addition to Metshin, Alexander Komisarov and Rosa Gainutdinova applied for this position. The commission, headed by the head of the Administration of the RAISA of the Republic of Tatarstan, Asgat Safarov, reviewed the candidates and conducted a rating vote. The candidates were also approved by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.

According to the results of the voting, Metshin received 41 votes out of 46 possible. Komisarov scored 4 votes, and Gainutdinova — 1.
