Fraudsters are increasingly using schemes to deceive students, including using a "fake boss" scheme on behalf of university administrators and simulating attacks on important services. This was announced on September 22 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As the agency clarified to the TASS news agency, fraudsters use the "fake boss" scheme, which involves creating fake chats on behalf of the university. Official communication can only take place through the university's channels.

"There are clear signs of deception: in reality, there are practically no situations requiring you to make a decision and act right now, if you are in a hurry, then these are scammers," the Interior Ministry noted.

In addition, scammers can also manipulate the names of government agencies such as the FSB and the Interior Ministry. The agency warned that if links to these structures appear in correspondence with you, then you need to call the official phone numbers to verify the information.

"The main rule is that no one will ever ask you to transfer money. Neither for "restoring access", nor for "closing the fine", nor under any other pretext. Any request for a transfer is definitely fraud," the Interior Ministry added.

Irina Volk, a representative of the Russian Interior Ministry, warned on September 16 about a new fraudulent scheme in which criminals send fake documents or disturbing messages, forcing citizens to urgently call them back. According to her, scammers are sure that the one who calls first sincerely trusts the interlocutor and becomes more vulnerable to deception.
