Scientists have discovered two types of bacteria that could have contributed to the death of Napoleon's army during the campaign in Russia. This was reported by the Spanish newspaper ABC.

"Scientists have analyzed DNA from the dental remains of 13 soldiers found in a huge mass grave of more than 3,200 bodies in Vilnius back in 2001. Recent investigations have confirmed that each of the bodies was infected with borrelia recurrent typhus (borrelia recurrentis) and salmonella paratypha type C (salmonella enterica paratyphi C), which are transmitted by blood—sucking parasites, in particular, lice," the material says.
