Kabul called on Washington not to repeat "past unsuccessful approaches" and to show rationality in its actions, without threatening to use force against the territorial integrity of another country. This was stated on September 21 by the deputy official representative of the Afghan government, Hamdullah Fitrat, commenting on the words of US President Donald Trump about his intention to regain control of Bagram airbase.

"During all the bilateral negotiations, it has always been brought to the attention of the United States that the independence and territorial integrity of Afghanistan are of paramount importance to the Islamic Emirate," Fitrat wrote on his social network page. Twitter).

He noted that the American leadership should be reminded of the agreement concluded with the United States in Doha regarding the withdrawal of the United States and its allies of all troops from Afghan territory. According to the document, Washington pledged "not to use or threaten the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Afghanistan, as well as not to interfere in its internal affairs."

"It is necessary that they remain committed to their commitments. We emphasize once again that instead of repeating past unsuccessful approaches, we should adhere to a policy based on realism and rationality," Fitrat added.

The Government representative stressed that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan strives to build constructive relations with all states based on common interests.

On the same day, Trump said he expected Afghanistan to transfer Bagram Air Base to US control. He noted that Washington wants to return it as soon as possible, literally immediately. In addition, the American leader threatened consequences if Afghanistan refused to comply with the demands of the United States.

On September 19, the WSJ newspaper learned that the Trump administration and representatives of the Afghan Taliban movement were negotiating a military presence at Bagram Air Base. As noted in the article, negotiations have only just begun. On the part of the United States, Adam Beler, the special presidential envoy for hostage affairs, is participating in them.
