The Lomonosovsky District Court of Arkhangelsk has arrested the former Minister of Health of the region for two months. This was announced on September 21 by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

"The Lomonosovsky District Court of Arkhangelsk agreed with the prosecutor's position and granted the investigator's request to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of two months against the former Minister of Health of the Arkhangelsk region," the prosecutor's office said in a Telegram channel.

The department explained that the criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of official authority).

The regional prosecutor's office did not name the ex-minister, but Interfax, citing law enforcement agencies, clarified that he was Alexander Gershtansky. It is noted that he left the post last Friday, September 19.

On September 17, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow informed Izvestia that the property of the vice-governor of the Bryansk Region, Nikolai Simonenko, was seized as part of a case of abuse of office during the construction of fortifications in the region. According to the investigation, Symonenko, who oversaw the construction of defensive structures in the areas bordering Ukraine, made unjustified payments to contractors. Symonenko was detained on July 22. On the same day, he was searched. Later, on July 24, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow chose a preventive measure for him in the form of detention for two months.
