India increased imports of Russian fertilizers to a two-year high
In July, India increased imports of Russian fertilizers to the maximum since mid-2023. This was reported on September 21 by RIA Novosti, citing data from the Indian Ministry of Trade and Industry.
In the middle of the summer of this year, Russian companies exported fertilizers totaling $280.9 million to the Indian market, which is 2.1 times more than in 2024. This value has been the highest for Russian exports since June 2023. At that time, the cost of supplies amounted to $282 million.
Growth has been observed since the beginning of 2025. Sales of fertilizers from Russia to India increased 1.4 times compared to January-July of last year. The total value reached $1.3 billion.
Currently, Russia remains the main supplier of fertilizers to India. The competitors were Saudi Arabia with a value of $885 million in January-July of this year and Morocco with exports worth up to $578 million.
Earlier, on July 16, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov announced New Delhi's interest in alternative logistics chains through Russia within the framework of trade and economic relations. According to him, the Russian Federation and India have good opportunities to activate routes between the states through the Vladivostok–Chennai sea corridor with access to the Northern Sea Route.
