Peskov pointed to the negative reaction of Ukrainians to his St. George ribbon.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that he had been carrying a St. George ribbon with him for many years, and in 2015, his Ukrainian colleagues reacted negatively to this.
"I came with this ribbon — with its predecessor, which was completely torn — to Minsk. And the Ukrainian comrades hissed at me, saying, why am I carrying this? I said, "It's none of your business," the Kremlin spokesman said in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.
Peskov explained that the current ribbon is the second in a row. The first appeared two months before the signing of the Minsk agreements (February 11-12, 2015).
On July 8, a court in Kuban sentenced Greek citizen Eleni Grigoriadi for desecrating symbols of military glory of the Russian Federation. It was clarified that the girl posted five pictures with insults on the social network. The images were collages, the elements of which were the St. George ribbon, the poster "Motherland calls!", the Eternal Flame and the very designation "May 9 is Victory Day." The publications showed disrespect for Russian society and contained information that desecrated symbols of military glory.
