Mass protests began on the streets of Lima in Peru
In Lima, the capital of Peru, representatives of the younger generation staged mass riots during anti-government protests. The relevant footage is published by Izvestia on September 21.
The rallies are held under the slogan "Generation Z against President Dina Boluarte." The participants oppose the reform of the pension system, and also demand more transparent work of the government and parliament of the country. They also support animal rights and environmental initiatives.
Some groups of those gathered are trying to take control of administrative buildings. The police are resisting with rubber bullets, batons and tear gas. At the same time, some journalists covering the events also suffered from the actions of law enforcement officers.
Earlier, on September 19, a large-scale strike and trade union demonstrations took place in France against the draft budget for next year. The total number of participants in the demonstrations and strikes, according to trade union estimates, exceeded 1 million people. In Paris alone, up to 100,000 residents demonstrated. Some of the metro lines were operating intermittently. In the morning, clashes with the police were recorded in some areas of the capital.
