Estonia requested NATO consultations after the incident with the fighter jets
Estonia has requested consultations from NATO member countries in connection with the alleged violation of its air borders by Russian fighter jets. This was announced on September 19 by the country's Prime Minister Kristen Michal.
It is noted that consultations were requested in accordance with Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
"The Estonian government has decided to request NATO consultations in accordance with Article 4," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Earlier in the day, the Estonian Foreign Ministry accused Russia of allegedly having three MiG-31 fighter jets invade the country's airspace. In turn, the head of diplomacy of the European Union (EU), Kaya Kallas, stated that she was in contact with Tallinn.
