On September 19, after a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Donald Trump announced that he was going to visit China in early 2026.

"I also agreed with President Xi Jinping on our meeting at the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) summit. — ed.) in South Korea, about my visit to China early next year and that President Xi Jinping will also come to the United States at an appropriate time," Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.

The American president also called the phone conversation "productive," saying that the leaders had made progress on "trade, fentanyl, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the TikTok agreement."

"The conversation was very useful, we'll talk more on the phone <...> and we're both looking forward to meeting at APEC!" Trump concluded.

Earlier in the day, China Central Television (CCTV) also reported on a telephone conversation between Xi Jinping and Trump. During it, the Chinese leader noted that the United States should avoid unilateral trade restrictions. Speaking about the TikTok platform, the Chinese president noted that the Chinese government respects the wishes of enterprises that comply with Chinese laws and regulations, as well as balances interests.
