The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will continue to adhere to the previous principles regarding the admission of Russian athletes to competitions. On September 19, IOC President Kirsty Coventry said this at a press conference hosted on the organization's YouTube channel.

"We talked about individual neutral athletes. Nothing new for you. The Executive Committee will follow the same approach as in Paris," she said.

Earlier, Coventry also stated that in preparing for the 2026 Winter Olympics, the organization will adhere to the same principles that were established for the participation of Russian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games.

On September 18, the IOC explained its decision not to suspend athletes from Israel by saying that they peacefully coexist with competitors from Palestine. It is noted that this statement was made after the Spanish authorities called for the suspension of Israeli athletes along with Russian ones.

On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov criticized the IOC for double standards in relation to Russia and Israel. He stated that Russia opposes the politicization of sports.
