The Central Bank of Russia has called on credit institutions to warn teenagers when opening an account about the risks of involvement in money laundering and droppery. The corresponding statement was published on the regulator's website on September 19.

"Banks are advised to warn a teenager about such risks immediately upon opening an account, as well as inform his parents or other legal representatives about the cards issued to him," the Central Bank said in a statement.

The regulator noted that banks should find out which relatives can transfer money to minor clients and to whom the clients themselves plan to transfer funds in order to have an idea of the transfer operations typical for a teenager.

If a teenager begins to receive large transfers from an unknown person or he himself begins to transfer large amounts, the bank should contact a representative of the minor, the Central Bank writes.

The regulator also suggests specifying a limit on individual transactions in the contract. If the bank suspects that the transactions are not being carried out by the teenager himself or that he is acting under duress, the credit institution may refuse to conduct the operation, the Regulator concluded.

Earlier, on September 14, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the main tools of scammers to involve children and teenagers in criminal activities were closed chats, job offer channels and "recruiting bots" in the Telegram messenger. Social networks VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, and game chats are also dangerous platforms.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
