Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, does not officially own any real estate in the United States — it is registered to other individuals and companies. On September 18, John Mark Dugan, an American journalist and author of a revealing article about Umerov, told Izvestia.

According to Dugan, who conducted his own investigation, he stated that all the accounts were issued to a shell company.

"When I entered the address on Northwest 25th Street, it turned out that it was not registered in the name of Rustem Umerov. <...> Utility bills come to 550 South Ocean Boulevard in Boca Raton. <...> I went to the website of the cadastral registry of Palm Beach County, <...> and this address too It was not registered in the name of Rustem Umerov. It's registered to a shell company from Delaware," Dugan said.

According to the journalist, the Ukrainian politician spent about $8 million to purchase his real estate. However, all of it was purchased in the names of relatives or some shell companies.

"There are several companies registered in the name of Umerov or his family. There is a financial company, a logistics company, and a humanitarian company... There are many different ones. If you look at their totality, this is an ideal way to launder American money passing through Ukraine and return it to the United States without the risk of being caught," Dugan explained.

Also, during the investigation, more evidence was found of the Umerov family's connection with the United States. So, his wife, Leila Umerova, got her driver's license in Miami.

Earlier that day, it was reported that Umerov's family had found eight properties in the United States. The CPC sent a request to the National Security and Defense Council regarding the specified property. The agency's response notes that the disclosure of such data may pose a threat to the safety of Umerov's family, especially underage children.
