Gevorg Sargsyan, to whom singer and composer Oleg Gazmanov gave his savings, was a business partner of his son Philip. The artist himself told Izvestia about this on September 18.

"All this happened more than six years ago. To begin with, he met my son, and to some extent they are business partners. My youngest son, Philip. And so he somehow came close to us, began to meet, communicate, and so on. And then he offered to invest in his project," the singer shared.

He stressed that at first he refused to invest the money, but Sargsyan offered him a tempting prospect and good interest.

"Moreover, he said that it was for a children's program. The presentation was so impressive. Well, everything looked very solid. I gave him my money, which I had been earning for a very long time. I just thought that these percentages are good, that someday I'll retire, I'll sort of live...> After three years, he had to pay back the money and the interest had to keep going. I haven't seen any interest or money after six years," Gazmanov concluded.

For more information about how scammers deceived the Gazmanov family, see the Final program with "Peter Marchenko" on September 21 on the REN TV channel.

On September 14, a source from Izvestia reported that Gazmanov and his family had become victims of fraud. The suspect in the fraud turned out to be a family friend, Gevorg Sargsyan, and he was detained. As a result, a criminal case was initiated under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud committed on an especially large scale"). The next hearing on the case is scheduled for September 24.
