Most Russians have experience picking mushrooms. Of these, 38% do it sometimes, and 37% do it regularly. This was reported on September 18 by Gazeta.Ru", having read the results of the research conducted by the editorial staff of the Weather Mail.

"During the mushroom season, Russians visit the forest quite often. 25% of the respondents go mushroom picking several times a season, 22% — several times a month, 16% — once a week, 11% — several times a week, 5% — once a month. Only 20% of respondents go for mushrooms once a season," the publication says.

After the survey, it turned out that 65% of respondents collect mushrooms to spend time in nature, 53% collect mushrooms for harvesting, 27% — for the purpose of excitement, 21% — to spend time with friends and family, and 12% — to save on buying mushrooms.

It also turned out that the majority of respondents (43%) are well versed in more than 10 species of mushrooms, 31% are familiar with 6-10 species, 21% with 3-5 species, 3% with 1-2 species.

"In one trip, 37% of the respondents collect 1-3 kg of mushrooms, 24% — 4-6 kg, 18% — more than 6 kg, 7% — less than a kilogram. 14% found it difficult to answer," the study found out.

The vast majority of Russians collect porcini mushrooms (78%), horseradish (75%) and podberezoviki (73%).

Earlier, on September 14, expert Olga Staroverova warned Russians about criminal liability for picking certain mushrooms. She said that the ban concerns the harvesting and harvesting of mushrooms and wild plants listed in the Red Book of Russia or a federal subject.
