- The leader of the Crematorium group Grigoryan spoke about the use of a mat in music.
In Russian rock, the use of profanity is common, but it can be applied in different ways. This belief was shared with Izvestia on September 17 by the leader and vocalist of the group "Crematorium" Armen Grigoryan.
"It seems to me that it is possible to divide the whole Russian rock into two unequal parts. The first is the groups that used words to enhance their expressiveness. Just as the great poets Pushkin, Mayakovsky, Yesenin did in their time. And the second part is flooding the text with obscenities," he clarified.
Grigoryan noted that songs with endless repetition of the mat cause him rejection. Talking about his work, he stressed that the use of obscene language is a long—passed stage.
"Society is already so steeped in this communication with the help of a mat that it is simply ridiculous to say that it is present in music. Watch how they talk on the streets, and then you can make claims about rock and roll," the artist summed up.
Earlier that day, the media reported that Nina Ostanina, head of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, announced her intention to ban the work of the Gaza Strip. It was indicated that the State Duma Committee intends to consider this issue in the near future. Later, the parliamentarian denied this information, noting that she opposes matting in musical compositions and for labeling 18+.
