Grigory Rodchenkov, the former head of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory and an informant for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), destroyed 1,418 doping samples before being put on the wanted list.

"The first criminal case, which Rodchenkov became involved in almost a year later, was initiated against unidentified persons after he escaped from Russian law enforcement officers," the relevant documents, which were reviewed by TASS on September 17, indicate.

In addition, an episode related to Rodchenkov's destruction of 1,418 doping samples was added to the case file, which violates WADA requirements. This episode is qualified as abuse of official authority without serious consequences.

The former head of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory, who is charged under Part 2 of Article 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Abuse of official authority", was first put on the wanted list on September 28, 2017. In August 2024, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation re-declared him wanted, but the data provided by the department no longer indicated the article on which the defector from Russia was wanted.

The last time Rodchenkov was wanted was a few days ago, on September 11. As specified, he could also be charged with obstruction of justice and trafficking in strong or poisonous substances.
