The Romanian MEP accused the head of the European Commission of slander
Romanian MEP Gheorghe Pipera, who earlier initiated a vote of no confidence in the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen, sued her for defamation. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on September 16.
"Piperia appealed to the Court of Justice of the European Union (EU) on the grounds that the head of the European Commission "personally attacked" him during the debate on the vote of no confidence," the publication says.
It is noted that the court has not yet made a decision on the "admissibility of the claim." According to the newspaper, Piperya is seeking an official public apology.
Earlier, on September 16, it was reported that the European Parliament (EP) will discuss and then vote on two votes of no confidence in EC President Ursula von der Leyen at the plenary session from October 6 to October 9. Two political groups, including the far-right Patriots for Europe and the Left, have submitted separate votes of no confidence in von der Leyen.
