Office of Open Mineral company searched in Switzerland
Swiss authorities have raided the office of Open Mineral AG in the canton of Zug. This was reported by Bloomberg on September 16.
The inspection was carried out by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) together with the local police.
The ministry clarified that the investigation concerns two individuals and is related to "potential violations of Swiss sanctions imposed after Russia's invasion of Ukraine." Open Mineral confirmed the visit of the authorities and stated that they were cooperating with the investigation.
"The authorities visited our premises last week in connection with the investigation of transactions in 2022. Our business activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," a company representative said.
Despite the inspection, the company stressed that work continues as usual.
Earlier in the day, searches under the pretext of "tax evasion" took place at the offices of Canal 5 and Channel One in Moldova. It was noted that the TV channels issued a statement accusing the Moldovan authorities of openly trying to deprive the opposition of its voice by seizing equipment. The media plan to achieve justice and challenge the searches.
