Politico learned about the EP's vote on two votes of no confidence in the head of the EC in October.

The European Parliament (EP) will discuss and then vote on two votes of no confidence in the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen at the plenary session from October 6-9. This was reported on September 16 by Politico newspaper with reference to an internal email from Parliament Speaker Roberta Metsola.

Two political groups, including the far-right Patriots for Europe and Leftists, submitted separate votes of no confidence in von der Leyen on September 10.

"These steps were taken just a few hours after von der Leyen delivered her landmark address on the state of the country in Parliament in Strasbourg and just two months after the last vote of confidence in her leadership, which highlighted the political fragmentation of the EU," the article says.

According to the publication, Patriots for Europe accused von der Leyen of a lack of transparency and accountability and criticized trade agreements with the United States. The left also criticizes the EC's trade policy, but at the same time pays more attention to what they call "the inaction of the EU executive against the background of Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip."

According to two sources familiar with the parliamentary procedure, the most likely option is to hold a joint debate on October 6, followed by two separate votes on October 9.

Earlier, on July 12, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto accused von der Leyen and European officials of increased import duties on EU goods from the United States. According to him, this initiative of Washington was introduced against the background of the erroneous policy of European officials, as well as because of the incompetence of the head of the European Commission.
