The United States plans to abandon the use of Russian enriched uranium, but has not yet been able to do so completely due to its high dependence on supplies. This was announced on September 15 by US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright in an interview with Bloomberg on the sidelines of the IAEA conference in Vienna.

"We are moving towards no longer using Russian enriched uranium, but we have not reached that goal yet," Wright said.
