Commander of the 91st Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Viktor Rybalka was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for committing terrorist acts in Russia. This was announced on September 15 by the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation.
"The investigation and the court found that in 2023, in order to destabilize the activities of the authorities, Rybalka gave illegal orders to his subordinates to mine settlements in the Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions, where civilians lived. At least 13 people were injured as a result of the crimes, and significant property damage was also caused," the Investigative Committee wrote on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that Rybalka was found guilty of committing terrorist acts on the territory of the Russian Federation. The commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been put on the international wanted list. According to the court verdict, he will be forced to serve the first ten years of his sentence in prison, and then he will be transferred to a special-regime penal colony until the end of his term.
On September 4, a military court sentenced two Ukrainian Armed Forces commanders, Yevhen Bulatsik and Rostislav Karpusha, to life imprisonment in absentia in the case of a missile attack in the Kursk region that killed people. On November 20, 2024, the defendants ordered their subordinates to launch missile attacks on the village of Marino in the Kursk region, injuring at least 17 people. Karpusha and Bulatsik were put on the international wanted list.
