Over 16 million people came to the polling stations to vote in the elections. This was announced at a briefing on September 14 by Nikolay Bulaev, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

"I saw an intermediate figure — more than 16 million voters came to the polling stations and voted," TASS quoted him as saying.

In addition, he noted that about 50,000 polling stations were opened in Russia, each of which had at least eight commission members.

The footage published by Izvestia shows the work of polling stations in Kaluga and Perm.

"I still think that it is necessary to come to the site, it is necessary to make a choice. I think every vote counts, so it's better to vote," said Anna, a girl who voted in Kaluga.

Earlier, on September 13, it was reported that more than 1.3 million voters voted on the federal remote electronic voting platform (DEG), which is 78% of those who registered. It was noted that, despite the possible problems and challenges faced by residents of the regions, voting with the help of DEG is in great demand.

Prior to that, on September 12, Bulaev reported that members of the Central Election Commission of Russia were seeing voter activity at various levels. According to him, quite a large number of people voted early in the Kursk and Bryansk regions.
