Drozdenko called Baltika a national treasure of the country
The Baltika Brewing Company is a national treasure, because it has proved that high-quality beer can be brewed in Russia. This was announced on September 13 by Alexander Drozdenko, Governor of the Leningrad Region, during a meeting of the Council for the Development of the Beer and Non-alcoholic industry within the framework of the Baltika Fest festival.
Baltika is a national treasure today, not only because it is a major taxpayer. And this is a company that has proved that it is possible to brew high—quality good beer in Russia," he said.
The head of the region also called on the company's management to support the Russian brewing industry.
"The competition in the market is huge. And it is clear that no one is waiting for us from the outside. But you probably need to focus on your own people, too," he said.
According to the governor, beer belongs to the food processing industry for a reason.
"Because it's a product that's not a sin to drink, and it feels good to taste. And the most important thing is to understand that it was done by our kind Russian hands. Have a good trip!"
Earlier, the Russian government increased customs duties on imports of malt beer and cider from unfriendly countries. Now the duty on beer will increase from €1 to €1.5 per liter, and on cider — from 22.5 to 30%. The new rates will be effective from December 31.
