Allergist, immunologist Lyudmila Lapa told how to distinguish acute respiratory viral infections from autumn allergies.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, September 12, the specialist said that many allergens are active in autumn, and reminded of the need to contact an allergist to determine the source of the reaction and select symptomatic treatment according to protocols.

She stressed that allergies and seasonal acute respiratory viral infections have different natures: the first is a reaction of the immune system to external stimuli such as mold or flowers, and the second is associated with infections and viruses. The main task in the treatment of allergies is to reduce the hyperreaction of the body together with the doctor and select the methods of therapy.

Lapa added that the main sign of a viral infection is an increase in body temperature.
