The leader of the Nepalese protesters demanded a direct dialogue with the president.
The chairman of the Hami Nepal youth organization ("We are Nepal" — Ed.) and the leader of the Generation Z protest movement, Sudan Gurung, demanded direct talks with Nepalese President Ram Chandra Paudel. This was announced on September 12 in the press service of the organization.
"At the moment, Sudan Gurung has been waiting for [the president] for nine hours, demonstrating firm determination. The president has not arrived yet, but Sudan's position is clear: he will not negotiate with administration officials or intermediaries, but intends to meet directly with the president," reads a statement posted on the organization's official Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
It is also emphasized that the "Generation Z" team must be present at the meeting with the head of state.
On September 8, the Nepalese authorities imposed a ban on the activities of a number of large social networks that did not register with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on time. In this regard, mass protests began. Nepal's Prime Minister Sharma Oli resigned on September 9 amid anti-government protests. Rioters also set fire to the central office of the ruling Nepali Congress Party.
The Khabarhub portal reported on September 10 that the former chairman of the Supreme Court of Nepal, Sushila Karki, agreed to head the interim cabinet of ministers of the country, holding a virtual meeting with the Generation Z group.
