DOM.RF supports modernization of trolleybus infrastructure in Chelyabinsk

In Chelyabinsk, with the financial support of the HOUSE.The Russian Federation commissioned the renovated trolleybus depot No. 2. The launch of the depot became part of a project for the large-scale modernization of the trolleybus infrastructure of the city, the press service of DOM.RF said.

The renovated depot will provide daily maintenance and repair of trolleybuses. This is a full-service enterprise that includes a control room, the main production building, a car wash, a rolling stock parking lot, a paint and body repair complex, the building of the chief mechanic's department for servicing special equipment and an administrative and household building. The total area of the production sites is about 6 thousand square meters. m.

"Depot No. 2 is a landmark facility of the Chelyabinsk Trolleybus concession project. Its launch into pilot operation means that we have entered the final stage of the investment phase of the concession and will gradually begin to produce vehicles on new routes. The key issue next will be the recruitment and training of drivers for future routes, as well as testing new infrastructure. I would like to note that even nationwide, this is the first such reconstruction of a trolleybus infrastructure facility in a city with a population of over the past 30 years," said Vitaly Votolevsky, Vice President of the Sinara Group.

Depot No. 2 was opened in 1975. After its reconstruction, the city will once again have two trolleybus maintenance and release sites. Over the past 13 years, there has been one trolleybus depot in Chelyabinsk, which has significantly complicated transport operations and the organization of trolleybus traffic.
