The economist predicted a drop in EU trade due to the abandonment of energy resources of the Russian Federation

The complete abandonment of oil and gas from Russia by the European Union (EU) countries will negatively affect the competitiveness of all European goods. This was announced to Izvestia on September 12 by Inna Andronova, Doctor of Economics, Dean of the RUDN University Faculty of Economics.

"This will result in Europe being forced to purchase these products at very high prices, which will undermine the competitiveness of all its products in the European Union. That is, they themselves will give up their competitive advantages in favor of US products," Andronova said.

Talking about Russian oil supplies to India, the economist doubted that the United States would be able to oust Russian energy resources from the country.

"We have seen the reaction of [Indian Prime Minister Narendra] Modi agreed to this because it is very painful to give up the enormous money that India is currently making by reselling Russian oil. And there is nothing to replace these revenues for India," she explained.

According to Andronova, India will fight to the last for the status of the main hub through which Russian oil enters Europe.

On September 10, The Wall Street Journal newspaper announced that the EU, as part of a new package of sanctions against Russia, would not take enhanced measures to limit purchases of Russian oil and natural gas.

On the same day, the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, in her keynote speech called on the European Union (EU) to permanently get rid of energy resources from Russia. She added that the answer to Moscow would be "European clean energy based on nuclear energy."
