Members of the British royal family will try to win over US President Donald Trump during his visit to the kingdom next week. This was reported on September 12 by the Reuters news agency.

"The main diplomatic task of the British monarch, once the head of the largest empire in history, is now flirting with world leaders such as Trump at large state events in the hope that they will treat Britain favorably," the article says.

The agency recalled that after Trump's return to the White House in February 2025, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer came to Washington to enlist the support of the American president.

"During a somewhat awkward conversation <...> Starmer took out a letter from King Charles offering Trump an unprecedented second state visit to the UK, which immediately endeared him to the delighted president," the agency added.

According to Reuters, the British government hopes that the royal family will prove to be a "trump card" in this possibly crucial visit, as it "seeks to strengthen ties with Washington in the field of defense and security."

On July 14, it became known that King Charles III of Great Britain had scheduled a state visit by the US president from September 17 to 19 during the holidays in the kingdom's parliament, excluding the possibility of the American leader speaking in the House of Commons.

This will be Trump's first visit since his second inauguration. The trip is connected with the intention of the American leader to meet informally with Charles III.
