The media reported on the US intention to increase duties on India and China
The United States intends to seek from the European Union (EU) and the G7 to increase duties against India and China in response to their purchases of Russian oil. This was reported on September 11 by the Financial Times (FT) newspaper, citing its sources.
It is specified that on Friday, September 12, the G7 finance ministers will discuss the US proposals on new measures.
"Earlier this week, we made it clear to our allies in the European Union that <...> they should join us and introduce meaningful tariffs that will be lifted on the day the conflict ends," the source told the publication.
On September 11, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Latnick said in an interview with CNBC that the United States could conclude a trade deal with India after it refuses to purchase Russian oil. Latnik also said that the United States is waiting for a big deal with Taiwan, and added that a trade agreement is likely to be concluded with Switzerland.
