Magnetic storms may hit the Earth in the coming weekend. This is reported in the Telegram channel of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"A fairly significant change in the geomagnetic situation, including the formation of new magnetic storms of the second and third levels on a five-point scale, is tentatively expected this weekend, starting on September 13-14, due to the appearance on the visible side of the Sun of an unusually large equatorial coronal hole located in the plane of rotation of the planets," the agency quotes the message. Moscow news.

It is noted that September currently shows unusually high geomagnetic activity.

"In the first 10 days of the month, three planetary—scale magnetic storms have already been registered, on September 2, 6 and 10," the text says.

On September 10, scientists registered an unexplained magnetic storm on Earth that occurred on Wednesday night, RT reports. The Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences noted that the event was absent from the forecasts, which were completely colored green the day before, according to the website. kp.ru .

Earlier, on September 2, they reported the beginning of planetary-scale magnetic storms on Earth. It was noted that the aurora zone will be formed in Canada and the Scandinavian countries. It is possible to observe this phenomenon in the north-western regions of the Russian Federation.

Then, on the night of September 7, there was a flash of the penultimate power class in the Sun. According to the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FSBI "IPG"), an M1.2 flash was recorded in the X-ray range in the group of spots 4207 (N28W16), the duration of which was 10 minutes.
