- The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation has re-announced the search for the ex-head of the Rodchenkov anti-doping laboratory.
The Russian Interior Ministry has put Grigory Rodchenkov, the former head of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory, on the wanted list. This was reported by RIA Novosti on September 11.
In November 2015, the independent commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accused Russia of anti-doping rule violations and stripped the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) of its compliance status with the anti-Doping Code. The work of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory was also suspended, after which its head Grigory Rodchenkov resigned. In January 2016, he left for the United States following his deputy Sobolevsky.
In September 2017, the Russian Interior Ministry put Rodchenkov on the international wanted list. The court also granted the request of the investigation in absentia and issued an arrest warrant for Rodchenkov, allowing the investigators to request his extradition.
On August 5, 2024, Gol Rodchenkov was put on the wanted list again. At the same time, the article on which a defector from Russia is wanted, who participated in the denigration of Russian athletes abroad, was not specified.
