Alexey Smirnov, the former governor of the Kursk region, is suspected of taking a particularly large bribe. This was announced on September 10 by a TASS correspondent from the hall of the Moscow Meshchansky court.

"A criminal case has been opened against Alexey Smirnov under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a particularly large bribe")," the state prosecutor said.
