The United States wants to replace Russia as an energy supplier to the European Union (EU). This was announced on September 10 by United States Secretary of Energy Chris Wright at a forum in Italy.

"We want to fill this niche: while Europe is abandoning Russian energy, we want to fill it with American energy," Wright said at the Gastech conference, according to RIA Novosti.

According to him, in the next four or five years, the United States will double its natural gas exports. He stressed that this expansion of supplies abroad is supported by a significant change in policy compared to the previous administration, which "put on hold the authorization of natural gas export terminals."
