The bill on extending the maximum allowable repair period for CTP, taking into account long-term supplies of spare parts from abroad, will be considered by the State Duma in the autumn session. Anatoly Aksakov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, told about this on September 10 in his Telegram channel.

The bill, which proposes to increase by one and a half times (from 30 to 45 days) the time allotted to insurance companies for the restoration of CTP cars that were wrecked in an accident, was adopted in the first reading back in November last year.

The authors of the amendments noted that due to difficulties with the supply of spare parts, as well as an increase in their delivery time, service stations cannot always meet the 30-day deadline established by law.

"Due to the fact that in the current situation, compliance with these deadlines often becomes impossible, insurers are forced to terminate contracts with service stations," the explanatory note to the document says.

Increasing the repair time for CTP to 45 days will help repair about twice as many cars, Evgeny Ufimtsev, head of the All-Russian Union of Insurers and the Russian Union of Motor Insurers, told Izvestia in an interview.

Earlier, on September 4, it was reported that the State Duma in the autumn session will also consider a bill on additional CTP payments for self-repair of a car. It is also proposed to introduce the possibility of issuing short-term OSGOP policies for taxi and public transport drivers.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
