- The president of the "Brock Boys" Egorov ruled out the significance of the case against Smolov for the club
The information that a criminal case has been opened against the ex-striker of the Krasnodar football club (FC) Fyodor Smolov means nothing to the media club "Brock Boys", for which the athlete competes in the Russian Cup. This was announced to Izvestia on September 10 by FC President Dmitry Egorov.
"We do not perceive all the rumors that are around, they mean nothing to us. This story has been going on for a long time, according to our information, at that time the parties agreed to reconciliation. And it seems to me that now these are just attempts by one of the parties to create additional information noise in the media," he said.
Egorov added that Smolov continues to train and is preparing to play in the match against Saturn. He stressed that the player will play for the "Brock Boys" until there is some official response. He also noted that the club is glad to see Fedor.
The initiation of a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Intentional infliction of moderate harm to health, not life-threatening") against a football player became known on September 10. According to a source of Izvestia, the reason was the athlete's fight in the "Coffee Mania".
The incident occurred on May 28 at an establishment on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street in Moscow. A video has spread online showing Smolov getting into an altercation with two visitors, and then attacking them with his fists. One of the victims was diagnosed with fractures of the lower jaw and the wall of the eye socket.
Businessman Andrei Popelukha, who became a participant in the fight, told Izvestia that the conflict occurred after the men refused for the athlete to pay their bill amid the noisy behavior of his company. According to the athlete's wife Karina Istomina, after the fight Smolov repented and apologized to the victims, and also offered to pay them compensation.
