- The Buk-M1-2 crew destroyed the UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and provided air cover for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
Military personnel of the Buk-M1-2 anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) of the Aleysky compound of the Center group of forces destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), as a result of which they managed to protect combined-arms units from enemy air attacks during offensive operations in the Red Army area in the special military operation zone. This was announced on September 10 by the Russian Defense Ministry.
During combat duty, an aerial surveillance system detected a target in the air. The information was immediately transmitted to the calculation of the Buk-M1-2 air defense system, which promptly moved to the designated area, deployed the complex, identified the target as an enemy reconnaissance UAV correcting artillery fire, and destroyed it with a rocket launch.
"We carry out the task of covering combined arms units during the offensive, as well as during defense, to destroy large and small UAVs, as well as all low-flying targets...> We go to work five or six times every day. <...> They are constantly looking for us, so we have several maneuvering areas. After the launch, we change the area," said Artem Urlov, the head of the calculation.
On August 9, the Ministry of Defense reported that operators of FPV drones of the Guards 58th Combined Arms Army of the Dnepr group of forces destroyed an AFU tank in the Zaporizhia region. It was clarified that the key factor in the high efficiency of FPV drones is the ability to hit targets at distant borders.
