The European Union (EU) is trying to deprive countries of the opportunity to independently determine their policies by instilling the idea of collective debt, and the Ukrainian conflict acts as a pretext for this. This was announced on September 9 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"The Brussels elite promotes the idea of collective debt in order to deprive countries of their sovereignty and push us towards the United States of Europe. They want to use the war in Ukraine as an excuse to bind us all with financial ties," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The politician also said that the EU should look beyond the current situation, into its own future, and decide whether they will be free or continue to obey "unelected bureaucrats."

Orban said at an event of the ruling FIDESZ—Hungarian Civil Union party on September 7 that the EU needs to undergo a fundamental reorganization in order to prevent its potential disintegration. The Hungarian Prime Minister explained that from 2008 to 2025, the share of the united Europe in the global market decreased by 7%. At the same time, the United States acquired 4%. Such an increase in global competition and the loss of positions, according to the head of the Hungarian government, pose a direct threat to the EU.
