Sergey Kovalenko, director of the Ukrainian energy company YASNO, said on September 8 that there could be power outages in Ukraine this fall. In this regard, he urged citizens to prepare for possible power outages.

"Autumn is a bit of an alarming time for power engineers. It is difficult to predict what will happen this fall. <...> I recommend that the population and businesses be prepared for different scenarios," Kovalenko wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

He advised Ukrainians to stock up on powerbanks and flashlights, check their performance, and prepare a supply of water and non-perishable food at home.

In addition, Kovalenko urged businesses to check the serviceability of backup power sources such as generators that were used during previous power outages.

On August 23, Horizont Magasin magazine reported a power outage throughout the Swedish island of Gotland. Because of what happened there, problems began in the work of a number of enterprises. There were also interruptions in the water supply.
