In addition to the Power of Siberia-2 project, Gazprom and China's CNPC have signed four agreements. This was announced on September 8 by Alexander Frolov, Deputy Director General of the Institute of National Energy, at the Izvestia press center during a press conference on the topic: "Results of the SCO Summit."

The Power of Siberia-2 is the largest project in the Russian gas industry over the past five years, however, more agreements were concluded within the framework of the forum, and some of them do not require additional reservations.

A strategic cooperation agreement was signed between Gazprom and CNPC, the contents of which were not disclosed. Two other agreements deserve special attention: an additional agreement to increase supplies through the Power of Siberia by 6 billion cubic meters. and an agreement on the Far Eastern route for another 2 billion cubic meters .

"That is, we have, because now the situation looks like this. With China, if we take pipeline projects, we have two contracted projects. The first project has not only been contracted, it is working, moreover, in 2025 it is the Power of Siberia. It is reaching the planned pumping targets of 38 billion," the expert said.

The second project, the Far Eastern supply route from Sakhalin, provides for the supply of 10 billion cubic meters. starting in January 2027. The signed agreement increases the volume of supplies for this project by 20%, to 12 billion cubic meters.

Thus, instead of 48 billion cubic meters, which were planned to be supplied via gas pipelines to China from 2027, 56 billion cubic meters will be supplied. An additional 8 billion cubic meters is comparable to the volume of the Polish market, which is currently closed to Russia.

As for the Power of Siberia-2 project, it is indeed the most ambitious project in recent years, Frolov noted.

On September 1, Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the global governance initiative at the SCO+ meeting in Tianjin. According to him, the SCO countries must remain a force for stability in the modern world and protect international justice. On the same day, Putin supported the global governance initiative put forward by Xi Jinping.
