Domestic Lada Iskra and Azimut cars are quite competitive in their segment, these models are the result of AvtoVAZ's systematic work on expanding the model range in accordance with the development strategy of the Russian company. This was announced on September 7 at the Eastern Economic Forum - 2025 (WEF-2025) by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Anton Alikhanov.

"Both Iskra and Azimut are the results of AvtoVAZ's systematic work to expand the model range in accordance with the company's development strategy. I got to know both models personally at the concept stage, they are quite competitive in their segment," Alikhanov believes, RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

According to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the high level of localization of Lada cars allows them to be available on the market for consumers. Alikhanov also drew attention to the lower cost of ownership compared to foreign cars and a well-developed car service network.

Earlier in the day, Alikhanov said that government support measures would help keep the decline in new car sales in Russia at the end of 2025 in the range of 25-30%.

Sales of Lada Iskra started on July 20 in Tolyatti, Moscow and St. Petersburg. The Iskra sedan costs from 1.25 million rubles in the basic configuration with a manual transmission. On July 8, LikeAvto Managing Director Julian Gavrilov said that the new Lada Azimut crossover in the basic configuration could enter the market at a price of up to 2 million rubles.
