The Central Bank of the Russian Federation will ensure the transition to the widespread use of the digital ruble. This was announced on September 6 by Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of Russia and Executive Secretary of the organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025).

"The Central Bank, together with the government, must ensure the transition to the widespread use of the digital ruble," he said.

The use of digital currency should also be included in the budget process, he stressed. According to the adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, the country should switch to a new model of the national trade model.

On September 1, Pulkovo Airport and VTB successfully conducted the first payment in digital rubles via a QR code.
