The program of the Cossack Village Moscow festival became known
On September 13, 2025, the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve will turn into a large-scale interactive open-air museum for one day. The guests of the XI International Festival "Cossack Village Moscow" will be fully immersed in the living history, traditions and art of the Russian Cossacks.
"This year's festival is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and the Year of Defender of the Fatherland. The program of the event is designed in such a way that it will be interesting for visitors of all ages. The 12 venues of the Festival will introduce the audience to the culture and way of life of the Cossacks," said Vitaly Suchkov, head of the Department of National Policy and Public Relations of Moscow. "More than 60 Cossack creative teams (more than a thousand artists) from the Central Federal District, from the regions of traditional residence of the Cossacks – Rostov, Volgograd, Omsk regions, Stavropol Territory – will demonstrate their work., from other regions of Russia, including such remote regions as Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories."
The center of the celebration will be the main stage, where Cossack vocal and dance groups and solo performers from all over Russia will perform from morning to evening.
Special attention within the framework of the festival will be paid to the marching temple, which will become the central symbol of the festival, will be presented and consecrated at the event. Its artistic feature is a hand-made cloth iconostasis using the author's technique of church embroidery. The images and elements of the composition are made using hand and machine embroidery, silk, velvet, gold and silk threads. An important event will be the subsequent transfer of the temple to the Synodal Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church for Cooperation with the Cossacks. An iconostasis and a church bell made by the Central Cossack Army will also be consecrated. After the consecration, the shrines will be handed over to the Cossacks of the 4th Guards Kantemirovsky Tank Division to send the bell to the temple being restored in the Lugansk People's Republic, and the iconostasis for the spiritual needs of the participants in their Special Military Operation. This act symbolizes the inseparable connection of the Cossacks with the Orthodox faith and their role in defending the Fatherland.
It will be possible to immerse yourself in the history and modern life of the Cossacks at the large-scale site "History of the Russian Cossacks", which will be presented for the first time by the All-Russian Cossack Society. The guests will see a reconstruction of a 19th-century military camp, an exposition dedicated to the Cossacks, the heroes of the SVO, and two exhibition areas of the M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the work on The Quiet Don and the 120th anniversary of the writer.
Craft lovers will find a craft town with workshops in blacksmithing, pottery, weaving and vine weaving. And at the bustling Stanichnikov fair, you can buy souvenirs and products of decorative and applied art - from pottery and textiles to original jewelry. It will be possible to enjoy the taste of Cossack cuisine at specially organized catering outlets.
The center of the festival, as always, will be venues demonstrating military prowess and Cossack prowess. The Kazarla Draughts Federation will hold all-Russian competitions on a special site. And the flanking masters will demonstrate the art of "dancing" with a saber, turning combat techniques into a show.
The hallmark of the holiday will be demonstration jigging performances from the professional team "Gold of the Don".
For the youngest guests, there will be a separate town called "Cossack Amusements". Here, children will get acquainted with the culture and history of the Cossacks in an easy and accessible way through fun traditional games - "Twitch", "Knock off the hat", "Chock at the tree!".
