Russian Russian Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova opened the exhibition "The Image of Moscow in Russian Art from the collection of the State Russian Museum" in the central pavilion of VDNH. The exhibition will be open until February 1, 2026.

The exhibition presents paintings depicting the capital and those who lived, worked and created in it. 115 works of art were brought to Moscow, many of which leave St. Petersburg only in exceptional cases, Sobyanin noted in the MAX messenger. "For the first time in its history, the Russian Museum gives Muscovites and guests of the capital the opportunity to get acquainted with the masterpieces of its richest collection," wrote the mayor of Moscow.

The exhibition features paintings by Apollinarius Vasnetsov, Vasily Surikov, Valentin Serov, Mikhail Nesterov and many others. The exhibition also features a series of works by Gerard Delabarte, which depicts Moscow before Napoleon's invasion and the fire of 1812. Ilya Repin's painting "The Solemn Meeting of the State Council on May 7, 1901" became the central work.

Sobyanin recalled the launch of a series of large-scale international and national cultural projects in city museums. So, in December, the Tsaritsyno Museum-Reserve will present the exhibition "Fabric of Time", a joint project with the National Museum of Crafts of Delhi. It is planned to hold exchange exhibitions with museums in Mexico, China, Brazil, India and other countries by 2030.
