A criminal case has been opened on a violation of safety rules after the crash of a light-engine aircraft in the Moscow region, which killed the pilot. This was announced on Friday, September 5, by the press service of the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport (ZMSUT) of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport, resulting in the death of a person by negligence")," the agency said in a Telegram channel.
The investigation revealed that the light-engine aircraft crashed while flying near the village of Ilyasovo in the Lukhovitsky city district of the Moscow region. The 65-year-old pilot died at the scene from his injuries.
Forensic investigators from the Western Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation inspect the crash site. The deputy Moscow Prosecutor for Supervision of the enforcement of laws on air and water transport went to the scene of the incident, the Moscow City News Agency added.
Earlier that day, a light-engine plane crashed in Lukhovitsy, RT reports. The aircraft crashed 1 km from the Ilyasovo airfield, IA Regnum reports.
The pilot died as a result of the incident. The circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated.
